Mentoring

 

The health and well-being of the immigrant community is our ultimate vision.  The mentorship program is designed to help members of all ages develop the necessary skills to successfully navigate within their communities while also building analytical skills on how to adjust in a new culture, communicate successfully, and trouble shoot problem areas.  The mentorship program will cover various social and academic aspects.  and mentorship program includes: Social Mentorship, Academic Mentorship, Parent Support Group (Parenting),  Career Development and Basic Training, Amharic Primary Level & English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Summer Enrichment and Sports Program. The social mentoring piece involves counseling parents and children in addressing cultural issues regarding parenting in the US.  Academic Mentoring is tutorial in Math, Science and preparatory service to college entering students.  Amharic Primary Level is designed to teach the language to beginners.  English for speakers of other languages is an orientation in English language to newly arriving Ethiopian immigrants. Career Development and training is a support program for community members who are disconnected in their career progress and needed guidance and assistance. Sports and summer enrichment looks summer engagement for kids and sports events for families and all other community members.
